Purdue Basketball beat Morehead State by a final score of 87 to 57. Purdue’s leading scorers were Zach Edey with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Lance Jones with 15 points and 3 assists, and Braden Smith with 11 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds.
Purdue started the game on a 15-0 run and was dominating in every aspect of the game. The first half was all Zach Edey, totaling up 16 points in the first half. And PG Braden Smith was dealing the ball all over the court. After a great first half, the Boilermakers were winning by a score of 42-29.
Purdue started off the second half the same way they ended the first, HOT. The Boilermakers went on a 7-0 run and Morehead State didn’t have an answer. The fans went wild after a great sequence by the Boilers, a forced turnover, into a Jones 3-pointer, and then another turnover, and another huge 3-pointer by Jones. Purdue had some problems with rebounds tonight, allowing 14 offensive rebounds, and only having 10 for themselves. Even though the Boilermakers struggled a little bit defensively, they had no problems offensively. Purdue won by a final score of 87 to 57.
Player of The Game: Braden Smith
Smith could’ve very easily had a triple-double if Painter would’ve taken him out. Smith showed a lot of poise on the court tonight, totaling 11 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds. Smith might not have much size, but he plays like he’s the biggest player on the court. I think that Braden Smith can lead the country in assists this season, just watch out for him.
#3 Purdue plays Xavier on Monday, November 13th at 8:30 pm EST
