Purdue Basketball defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs by a final score of 73-63. Purdue’s leading scorers were Zach Edey with 25 points and 14 rebounds, Braden Smith with 13 points and 6 assists, and Lance Jones with 13 points and 4 rebounds

1st Half

Purdue started hot, going on an early 6-0 run, but good things never last, and Gonzaga went on a 14-0 run. After the fast-paced scoring in the first few minutes, the scoring slowed down. Purdue’s leading scorer at half-time was Zach Edey with 15 points and 3 blocks. Purdue kept it close, but it was difficult to keep up with Gonzaga’s 6 made three-pointers in the first half. The Gonzaga Bulldogs led 35-30 over Purdue at half-time.

2nd Half

After struggling in the first half, the Boilermakers came out hot in the 2nd half. Lance Jones was putting the team on his back for the first 5 minutes of the half, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the 2nd half. Purdue was just much better and more athletic than Gonzaga was, and much better than their 1st half. Purdue’s leading scorer in the 2nd half was Lance Jones with 11 points. The Boilermaker’s 2nd half was one of the better halves of basketball I’ve seen in a while. Purdue beat Gonzaga 73-63.

Player of The Game: Zach Edey

Edey was just flat-out dominant. The Zags contained Edey pretty well in the first half, but after Edey found his groove, the game was over. Edey scored 25 points grabbed 14 rebounds, and also blocked 3 shots. I think that Edey is much above any other player in the NPOY race, and if Edey keeps this up he could very easily sweep every award again.

#2 Purdue plays #7 Tennessee on Tuesday, November 21st at 8:00 pm EST
